Director
Shannon
Shannon joined the Granny Rose Animal Shelter family in February 2023, bringing a heart full of compassion and a résumé as diverse as a rescue mutt’s pedigree. Originally hailing from the world of healthcare in Wisconsin, Shannon spent her spare time rescuing and rehabilitating equines and wildlife, turning her passion for animals into a lifestyle. After moving to Dixon, Illinois for love and marriage, Shannon decided it was time to follow another dream: working with shelter animals. She’s embraced her role with enthusiasm, making a positive impact on both the shelter and the community. Shannon is a proud mom of five, a doting grandma of two, and a devoted dog mom to a lucky pup she couldn’t resist adopting from the shelter. She’s also fostered more feline friends than she can count. Shannon’s dedication to her family and the animals at Granny Rose is truly inspiring. She’s found her perfect spot in Dixon and is excited to continue her journey here, one wagging tail and purring kitten at a time.
Marketing Manager
Kendall
Kendall has been working with dogs and cats for over 8 years not including her own. From rescue/volunteer work and animal first aid to kennel management and behavior evaluation/modification down south in Tennessee, even a little grooming. She wanted to try her hand at anything that would help animals. She became FearFree certified in 2021 and also in animal first aid. With fresh perspective upon returning back to her hometown she continued her journey into animal behavior/enrichment. With the need of a website, she jumped in to do what she could to grow Granny Rose and help anyone that comes in the door. Always learning, she hopes to find more like-minded individuals to grow the community and share the love of rescuing animals.

Kalena
Kalena was a stay at home mom for about 13 years but was thrown back into the work force after her husband suffered a traumatic brain injury. Kalena attended sauk valley college for criminal justice, and psychology. After graduating she worked in the mental health field but ultimately decided that it was not for her. One day Kalena was driving past Granny Rose and thought “ little me would love that kind of job”. So she called and asked if they were hiring and the rest is history. Kalena has spent all of her life rescuing animals and helping them live their best lives.
To Kalena Granny Rose is her home away from home.

Jodi
I have loved animals from a very young age, my grandma nicknamed me “cat woman” because all the cats on the farm would follow me around. By the age of 14, I was volunteering at a local animal shelter in my hometown of Sycamore. I have spent my career in the healthcare field. I love being out in nature and one of my favorite activities is camping.

My hobbies include boating, fishing, camping and drag racing. My wife and I used to have two Jack Russell terriers that we would show and also race in competition.
